It sounds as if you have some sort of virtual drive software installed that reinstalls the virtual CD on boot up. The Fix-It program I refered to was a download from Microsoft that is used to identify and automatically fix various window and interface problems. The device comes up with the wrong name in the device manager. I’d suggest you to open Device Manager and scan for hardware changes.

I have another drive just like it and when I replaced it in my computer, it came up with the same dvdrom. In reply to LemP’s post on April 5, I can uninstall this virtual drive drive and get my real drive to appear and work, but after shutting the computer down and restarting, the virtual drive re-appears in Device Manager along with my actual drive.
