The editors of TheCrawlSpace had the amazing privilege of meeting the wonderful Lois Lowry last weekend, author of forty five books, including Newberry Award winners The Giver and Number The Stars. On Sunday, Nobember 22, we watched her present as part of the Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures. On Monday, November 23, we were able to welcome Ms. Lowry to Chatham’s campus for a Q&A session.
Ms. Lowry told us about her childhood, about growing up during World War II, and about The Yearling: the book that made her fall in love with reading, and about her inspiration for writing The Giver.
Of course we loved everything she had to say, but our favorite answer was to the question Sharla asked, “When you were a kid, where was your favorite place to read?” We hope you enjoy her answer as much as we did.
